v1.6.3 for both MPoD and MPaD is available from the AppStore now. The most important change that many people have asked for is better handling of compilations. The apps now use the album-artist tag to group songs, and will also properly display compilations under the artist ‘Various Artists’ or whatever you have named it. Complete release notes:

Note: there is a problem with the two-finger swipe down/up on iOS 4.3 that was not detected during testing. This will be resolved in the next release.

MPoD version 1.5.2 released

Since today MPoD v1.5.2 is available from the AppStore. The main change is the added ability to search directly against the mpd database from the browse
window. This addition allows MPoD to work well with mopidy, which opens up the world of Spotify. Here are the release notes:

This week I started testing with mopidy, a mpd-compliant server that lets you play music from Spotify. I’ve been working with Stein Magnus Jodal, the developer, to remove some of the rough edges, and it’s coming along nicely. A new release should be available in the coming weeks.

MPoD v1.5.1 solves 2 known issues

Unfortunately 2 serious issues with MPoD v1.5 were not been during my testing, and as a result some people saw the application crashing when activating the artist tab, the album tab, or when changing between connections. The fix for this problem is now available from the AppStore.

Since today MPoD v1.5 is available from the AppStore. I started working on it a month ago, and I’ve been able to complete the following list of features/bugfixes/changes:

MPoD version 1.4 is available from the AppStore. New features and fixes in this release:

Directly browse the mpd structure. This was the most requested feature for MPoD. As result you now have to option to either use the local cache, or get data directly from the server.
Use local cover art that is shared through http. By sharing your music folder on the MPD server over http, MPoD can pick up cover art from the folder of the currently playing track. This is in addition to the Amazon based cover art;
Improved streaming (on-the-go mode) through the use of the RadioKit SDK from Stormy Productions. Stopping and pausing of a stream works better, plus there is visual feedback on when MPoD is connecting/buffering;
Simplified streaming settings;
Show information on current bitrate;
Fix cover art problems for timezones far away from GMT;
Some small bugfixes.
