Found this app through the MPD website–it works great, and is pretty to boot! This software is worth 20 euro to me, so that’s what I donated.

    A couple things:

-on my iPhone 3G S, the “New Connection” section is rather unstable. sometimes the “Name” field is detected as a numeric or password field, and sometimes trying to create a new connection can crash the app. I had to uninstall/reinstall when I tried to set up my connection with a domain name instead of an IP address.

-in that vein, it’d be awesome to be able to specify a Fully Qualified Domain Name as the server address instead of just the IP.

-I’d like to put a bounty of 20 euros on a new feature: selectively enabling and disabling MPD outputs. I have multiple sound systems in my house, and would like to be able to send the output to the sound system of my choosing via PulseAudio.

Thanks, keep up the good work!
    -Caleb

The new connections has some problems, that I’ll look into. It’s not related to the 3G S.

A FQDN should work (I’m using that myself).

      I’ll look into outputs.

      • Caleb says:

Hmm, I had no luck when I tried a FQDN, but maybe it was just a stability issue. I assumed because the label said “IP Address” that I had tried to do something unsupported. :)

May I suggest changing the label from “IP Address” to “Host” for clarity?

I’m fairly sure the outputs thing should be simple to do, if I’m reading the docs right: http://www.musicpd.org/doc/protocol/ch02s09.html

If I had time and access to a development platform for the iPhone, I’d try for it myself…oh well, I’m eager to hear what you come up with!

Great news, thank you for good work!

I just wonder can I somehow edit now playing playlist? And other playlists too

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that the new version of MPoD rocks! All the features I was looking for are there now: multiple connections, streaming, cover art, and they all work great. The new control scheme is pretty good too. I’d say this is one of the best mpd clients available for any platform. (Just in case you’re interested, the app FStream is able to handle ogg streams.)

great work,…what must i do to see the covers ?

    • Berrie says:

Covers are loaded from the US version of amazon. If the music you’re listening to is not in their catalogue, or the Artist/Album naming doesn’t match that of amazon then the actual cover can’t be displayed.

    Excellent work. Thanks again!

  6. ZeZke says:

Works thank you! But is it normal that there is 2second delay in changing songs using mpd and the icecast stream actually changing? But thanks a lot this was what i was looking for, especially with the icecast support.

    • Berrie says:

A few seconds of the icecast stream are buffered on the playing device, in this case the iPhone, to ensure playback without hickups. That means that what you hear is always a few seconds behind on where MPD is. So the next song will already be displayed on the iPhone, while you’re still hearing the last bit of the previous song.

  7. ZeZke says:

Wow excellent going to download it asap.
