Shake-day at Katoemba

Today was ’shake-day’ at Katoemba. First I bought the new Wii game Warioworld – Shake It! for my kids. And staying in that shaking spirit, I implemented a shake’n’shuffle feature in MPoD that will choose a random album to play if you shake your iPhone. Not very original given that the new iPod’s already do this, but still a nice feature.

Also this week I’ve made improvements to the now playing screen, to get rid of the sluggish performance that various people have been reporting. I expect to submit the new version for AppStore review in the coming week.

The large playlist problem is clearly a bug that I’ll fix in the next release. I only play full CD’s so my playlist is never longer then 20 tracks, so I have never noticed it.

I understand. Maybe the info can be condensed and placed at the bottom of the settings screen.

Again, these are just suggestions and feedback. I appreciate all the hard (and free) work that you are doing with this wonderful client.

I forgot to mention that, with a large play list (say 1800 songs) the current song playing is never centered in the list. So I only see the album and artist at the very top.

Well, the info screen is… the info screen. But I see the point, and iPod on the iPhone does this in a nicer way. I’ll need to see how I can incorporate that.

With the shake function I have removed the question mark button, inline with your suggestion.

    A few suggestions:

The info screen is very underutilized. The info about MPod screen should be replaced with a series of buttons that would allow one to quickly change some options like random, repeat, random play list, save current play list. I would like to see the volume control placed here as well. It would unclutter the main screen. With this change, you could make the play, pause, next, previous buttons just a little bigger so that they are easier to hit.

If you add shake for random album, then I would get rid of the question mark button.

    Keep up the good work!!

    Sincerely,

    Nick
