That is an interesting use case that I have briefly thought about, but it's a major addition to MPoD that is not to be expected anytime soon. Now potentially this could already work if you have another application that could pick up the stream from icecast, but it means that you have to switch between apps which is not very elegant.

MPoD's primary use case at the moment is to use your iPhone as a fancy remote control for an MPD music server in your home. In that scenario the linux server is connected to an amplifier to play music the 'traditional' way in e.g. your living room.

So, to use MPoD, one would set up an MPD server that outputs to icecast and receive the stream on your iPhone? Is this the usage scenario?

@urban:
- editing the ip address: that's a valid comment, clicking the line should bring you into edit mode.
- confirm: the ok button will confirm the editing of the ip address. The number only edit screen doesn't have an ok button, don't believe there's anything I can do about that.
- missing playlist and albums, songs and artists: this can happen if the ip-address is not setup when you start MPoD. If you restart it after correcting the ip-address this problem shouldn't occur. There is some delay in loading those screens depending on the number of songs in your library (around 10 seconds for my 10.000 song library). I hope to improve that in the future.

great job - some feedback :

- got it working but with some trouble - editing the IP address turned out to be tricky: the "IP Address" turns blue but nothing happens until you hit the address display area on the right, which shows nothing at first...

- there doesn't seem to be a confirm/register button when you edit IP or port.

- works fine with current playlist but i can't access other tracks, even searching through artist, album and song.

- don't see playlists either...

this is a recent installation of MPD but there may be a compatibility problem ?

cheers.

You need an MPD server, which primarily runs on Linux. MPD is a music player without its own front-end, instead many people have created various types of front-ends (Web, OS X, Windows, PDA etc.) to work with MPD, and MPoD is one of those specifically for the iPhone / iPod Touch.
So, if you don't have a linux box that runs MPD, then MPoD is of no use to you. If you have an MPD server running, make sure you enter the ip address of the system on which it is running in the preferences.
